Where does LimeBike operate?
Currently we’re in California, North Carolina, Florida, with other states to follow. We’re working with cities and campuses across the U.S. to deploy LimeBikes in a municipality near you! Sign up for our email list and we’ll let you know when!
How do I find a LimeBike near me?
Simply download the LimeBike app on your Android or iPhone, find a bike on the map, and unlock the bike with the tap of the app.
Safety is LimeBike’s top priority, and our bikes are equipped with an anti-theft lock and alarm, double kickstand for parking stability, and a super-bright front headlight.
How much does it cost to ride a LimeBike?
Regular Lime Rides
Rides will cost just 50 cents per 30-minute time block for students with a valid ".EDU" e-mail address.
- $1 for non-student riders, per ride.
- LimePrime is $29.95 per month with 100 rides.
- LimePrime Students is $14.95 per month with 100 rides, with a valid ".EDU" email address. Students, falculty, and staff all qualify.
For a limited time for our Seattle riders, riders can sign up for LimePrime for a total $39.95 for 3 months, with 100 rides provided per month. (Updated 8/14/2017)
How do I reserve a bike?
Unfortunately you can’t reserve a bike. We decided early on to make LimeBikes first come, first serve. So if you see a nearby bike on the map, it’s yours to ride!
How do I pay for my ride?
Simply enter your credit card information into the app and purchase credits you can use for future rides. Deposit as little as $5 to get started, but you can earn free rides the more money you deposit in your LimeBike wallet. Don’t worry, deposits are refundable if you decide not to ride.
How do I end a ride?
First, please make sure you’re parking in a safe, appropriate location. Dockless bike shares only work if we all take responsibility and park in places that don’t block car traffic, impede pedestrian access, or encroach on private property.
Please park only at bike racks and areas designated specifically for bike parking. Then simply push down the rear wheel to lock the bike. Voila! After completing your ride, the app will provide you with a trip summary.
How is LimeBike different from existing bike sharing networks?
The majority of existing bike sharing networks have fixed docking stations - permanently installed bike racks spread out over a city These cost cities millions of dollars to maintain and operate, so stations are few and far between. Additionally, limited bikes means a cap on the number of available bikes and higher costs for the users. We believe there’s a better way- by partnering with local governments and stakeholders, LimeBike eliminates docking stations, creating a broadly distributed system, with bikes that are more accessible and affordable to all.
How much will LimeBike cost my city?
Zero. LimeBike incorporates easily into cities' existing transportation model and greatly reduces carbon footprints. LimeBike also covers all bike maintenance and rider education costs.
Are helmets required for riders?
Helmet laws vary in different cities. Helmets are required for riders in King County, Washington. To promote bike safety, LimeBike will be distributing 1,000 custom-designed helmets for Seattle as a way to educate our riders. LimeBike mobile app also educate users on the best biking practices.
How many bikes can LimeBike deploy per city?
This varies by the size and density of a city. When we partner with a city, LimeBike designs and executes an on-the-ground operation plan that is specifically tailored to each community. We want to integrate, not overwhelm, into existing transportation designs.
Why does LimeBike app request background location access?
Location info also helps us to develop a trip summary with a detail route, a highly-requested feature from our user test and consumer research.
