Yesterday was a huge moment for LimeBike and an exhilarating one for me.

We finally launched in Seattle!

It's been just over two days since we deployed 500 bikes on Seattle's streets, and we'd like to share some exciting data:

  • More than 2,000 rides
  • More than 1,000 first-time riders
  • On average, riders use the bikes twice a day
  • On average, the riding distance is 2.6 miles, or about 14 minutes of riding time
  • We are ranked top 100 travel apps, #81

What does this mean?

Seattle residents are embracing bikeshare, incorporating rides into their daily lives and leaving their cars at home. The trend will only continue to grow. I started LimeBike because I want to help to solve that first and last mile problem. Equally important, I wanted to encourage people to live healthier lives while improving the environment.

Seattle is our first truly metropolitan city, and along with presence in South Bend, IN; Key Biscayne; FL; and South Lake Tahoe, CA, LimeBike is now the leading bikeshare service in North America.

Ride on, Seattle. We look forward to working with your community and providing the highest level of service.
